Heating and heat pump repair

Heat pumps and furnaces work hardest on the few cold weeks we get, which is exactly when a failure hurts. We repair, inspect and tune heating systems so they are ready when the temperature drops.

Signs your heating needs attention

  • No heat, or heat that never feels warm enough
  • A heat pump that stays iced over for long stretches
  • A burning smell that lingers well past the first run of the season
  • Tripped breakers or blown fuses when the heat comes on
  • Frequent cycling, or a thermostat that never matches the room

If a carbon monoxide alarm goes off, get everyone outside first and call 911 or your gas company. Then call us.

FAQ

Questions we hear a lot

Why does my heat pump blow cool air?

Air from a heat pump feels cooler than air from a furnace even when it is working normally. If it is blowing truly cold air, it may be in a defrost cycle, low on refrigerant, or have a failed reversing valve or backup heat strip. We can check it.

How often should my heating system be serviced?

Once a year, ideally in the fall before the first cold snap. A heat pump handles both heating and cooling, so it is best checked each spring and fall.
